Instargram has certain requirements to the video that is to be uploaded, and in order to have a video tailored for Instagram, one should follow certain specifications.


The Minimum Resolution for Instagram Landscape Videos is 600 x 315 (1.91:1 landscape aspect ratio) , 600 x 600 (1:1 aspect ratio), 600 x 750 (4:5 vertical aspect ratio).

For the best result, we recommend using the following parameters: 

  • 1920 x 1080 or 1080 x 1920
    Note: The height and width can be changed if you prefer another aspect ratio, but the maximum pixels allowed for a landscape orientation–use 1,080 by 1,080 for square orientation. 
  • Frame Rate: 23.98 - 29.97
  •  H.264 compression (MP4 format)
  • AAC audio encoding
  • Bitrate Encoding: VBR 
  • Maximum Bitrate [Mbps]: 35
  • Caption length text: 2,200 characters max 
  • Video file size: 4 GB max 
  • Video duration: 3 to 60 seconds


If you plan to make advertisement for Instagram you can use the following guide:

  • Minimum video resolution in pixels : 500x500 
  • Minimum video ratio: 4:5
  • Maximum video ratio: 16:9
  • Maximum video width in pixels: 1080 x 1080
